The Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI) is a global organization launched in 2017 by asset owners and investors to evaluate how companies are transitioning to a low-carbon economy. TPI employs academically rigorous, transparent methodologies to assess climate strategies based on publicly disclosed data, helping investors make informed decisions aligned with the Paris Agreement. Its evaluations cover companies, banks, and sovereign debt issuers, focusing on risks like regulatory changes, litigation, and the transition to net-zero emissions. TPI is supported by over 150 investors managing $80 trillion in assets and collaborates with initiatives like Climate Action 100+. Its data aids in stewardship, voting, and engaging with companies to encourage sustainable transitions. In 2021, TPI Limited was established to enhance its operations, and in 2022, the TPI Centre launched to support research. The initiative emphasizes open access to its insights, fostering climate-resilient investments worldwide.
