Department of Social Statistics at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, established in 1995, is a leading academic entity in Sri Lanka’s university system. As part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, it was the first department to offer degrees in Social Statistics and Business Statistics within this stream. For nearly three decades, the department has been recognized for its excellence in teaching, research, and consulting. It offers three distinct honors degree programs: Social Statistics, Business Statistics, and Information Technology, tailored to equip students with the necessary skills for today’s data-driven world. Additionally, the department provides subjects for a three-year Bachelor's degree program in fields such as Social Statistics, Management & Information Technology, and Information Technology, aimed at meeting the country’s growing demands for expertise in these areas. The department’s contribution to education supports national development through innovative programs in statistics and information technology.
